engagement & social media

treat customers and supporters as friends

How you treat your friends defines the value of your friendship. Communication is key. The same goes for donors and clients. Ongoing communication allows them to ensure that you share values and or offer them a benefit. It also makes the ASK/Call to Action easier when it is part of a fruitful relationship. Stay engaged with social media!

How do we communicate with friends? We chat often, reach out when we have information that may benefit them, and we acknowledge them for special occasions. Now and then, we ask them for help. Communicating with your supporters, donors, or clients follows the same rules. Communicating with your supporters, donors, or clients follows the same rules. You do not want to communicate with them only occasionally and with an “ask.” However, we all know that posting online can be tedious. Here is what we suggest (and how we help):

  • Posting Calendars: We will help you design a calendar that will tell you what to post and when, making the process easier. Eliminate the tedious process of having to come up with content and always posting the same type of information. No one likes a repetitive or shallow friend. Make your content valuable and interesting!
  • Social media engagement  can encourage action (carts, sign ups, donations, “join our mailing list” forms, etc.) that takes place on the website
  • Original blog articles appeal to your audience as sources of information and represent you as a leader, a way to build fans among visitors. Blogs live in your website and are extremely important to keep a website fresh and get repeat visitors; but they must be kept up to date!
  • E-Newsletters include links to articles or news that is of interest to your audience. They promote interest, engagement, fans, and a following
  • “Join our mailing list” is a way to build your mailing list for e-newsletters and direct mail to stay in touch
  • Search engine optimization (SEO) is the act of improving relevancy and being found organically by search engines such as Google
  • Online Ads, such as on Google or Facebook
  • RSS feeds sign up forms that allow subscribers to be alerted to new content on your website
