It’s hard to stay competitive unless you offer something unique. And when I say unique, I don’t necessarily mean a product that only you sell, or something so over the top that nobody else ever thought to do. Unique doesn’t have to be different, strange, or off the charts, what you can offer is much more important than that; what you offer builds trust and a loyal following.
Here are some thoughts:
• Give them your time
• Listen
• Offer recommendations
• Give free advice
• Answer questions
• Provide quick return
• Offer a discount in exchange for a referral
• Create a short survey: “How can we serve you/do better?”
• Create packages for better pricing
• Implement a punch card type reward (10% off after so many purchases)
• Offer free shipping or delivery if cost is over $100, etc.
• Send a Thank You note after a meeting
• Send a congratulatory note for their successes
• Take your client out to lunch
• Make a donation to their cause
• Create fun games or competitions on your site: trivia questions, searches, weather rewards (if weather is over 90 degrees, 1% for 91, 2% for 92, 3% for 93 degrees, etc.) This will keep people engaged as well as show that side of you that’s fun and cares.
Stay creative and let your clients know you aim to please. Why? Because you care, and caring is priceless.
